While in Hawaii recently I was able to partner up with one of the experts
in Hawaiian Aloha shirts. A classic sewing contractor who's been building
the finest shirts in the Islands for many years. Their clients read like
a who's who of the Hawaiian shirt business.
We sat around the pool at the Breakers Hotel, me with a sample and some
swatches and he with a note pad and his samples and now three months later
we have our: Cotton Aloha sShirt Collection and they have a "Made
in Hawaii" label. All construction, cutting and sewing is done in
Hawaii.
Is this the best Aloha Shirt in the world? Well, I think it is. You see,
I design these and have them sewn to my specifications. I don't have to
run it by some corporate board of directors or some "design team".
I sit down with my production guy and we decide how to do it and that's
it. The board has met.
The quality of the sewing is second to none.
Some of the features:
Perfectly matching pockets on every shirt.
Single needle top stitching as found on the finest tailored dress shirts.
Two piece banded collars that stand up like the old fashioned Ivy League
shirts of the fifties.
Front is folded back and sewn down plaquet style.
Now that's great you might say. So we have wonderful features. But what
are the benefits to you the consumer? This: When you wash these and take
them out of the dryer (Yes they are machine washable and dryable) you
just hang them up and wear them , You don't have to touch them with the
iron. It's beacuse of the quality consrtuction I mentioned above.
And because these shirts are cut from some of the finest high count cotton
poplin aloha shirt fabric available the shrinkage is negligable if at
all.
